The Orange County Register SAN CLEMENTE – Girl power won out in
the cocktail world. Blue Bikini a tasty alcoholic confection resembling the ocean with a little sea splash on top was named the city's official cocktail
at a competition Thursday afternoon
at Gordon James Grill. Nine establishments took part in the contest. Served in a curvy hurricane glass, the drink was concocted in a weeks-long barroom brainstorm by Ole's Tavern's eight female bartenders. (OK, and one male bartender.)
“We are so excited,'' said Lisa Monti,
a bartender at Ole's for five years.
“This has really shaken up the town. Everybody's really gotten into it.'' The evening ended with many of the giddy participants sporting tiny umbrellas behind their ears. “We're definitely going to do it again next year,'' said master of ceremonies Jerry Lehman, a chamber of commerce board member.
